Training

What is 'Training'?

The Monterey Bay Area Council is fully committed to helping every leader and Scout be as successful as possible. We understand that your time and resources are valuable and you have  other commitments beyond Scouting. The goal of the Training Committee is to provide all members with the resources to become efficiently and effectively trained in their Scouting position.

How Do I Become a 'Trained' Leader?

Every registered Adult Leader has a unique Scouting position with unique requirements to be fully 'trained'. Whether you're a Den Leader, a Committee Member, an Assistant Scoutmaster, or a Sea Scout Skipper, your requirements to be 'trained' are different than any other Scouting position.

To view the which courses are required for what positions, please view the What Makes a 'Trained' Leader? Matrix

The What Makes a 'Trained' Leader? Matrix includes a listing of position codes, training course codes, and shows which courses are available online. All online courses for unit leader positions are 100% free of charge.
